The past year definitely hasn’t been kind to Johnny Depp, but it has definitely been kind to his lawyer’s bank account. In November of last year, news surfaced that Depp was embroiled in a legal feud with former business associates that may require him to foreclose on five of his Los Angeles homes. Six months later, two of Johnny Depp’s former bodyguards opened a lawsuit that claimed their former employer, Depp, owed them money and exposed them to unsafe working conditions. To be specific, the bodyguards argued that they “were forced to protect [Depp] from himself and his vices while in public, becoming caretakers for him.” Today, things got just a bit worse for the legally entangled actor.
According to a report from Variety, Depp has been sued for allegedly assaulting a location manager on the set of City of Lies. The alleged altercation centers around a city permit that allowed the crew to film until 7 p.m. outdoors and 10 p.m. indoors. Thanks to the crew at the time, the permit was extended until 11 p.m. on more than one occasion. However, this allegedly did not please Depp. On April 13th 2017, the location manager informed the director that they must stop filming because their permit had run out. In response, the director said, “Why don’t you tell that to Johnny Depp?” When the location manager attempted to explain the situation to him, Depp said, “I don’t give a f*ck who you are and you can’t tell me what to do!” From there, the situation escalated and resulted in Depp punching the location manager twice in the ribs. When the location manager refused to sign a release that would waive his right to sue, he was fired from the production.
