In his six-year career, John Wall has never made an All-NBA Team. He made the second All-Defensive team last season, and has been an All-Star thrice. But the Washington Wizards point guard has yet to receive an All-NBA nod. And he is not happy about it. From J. Michael of CSN Mid-Atlantic:
Last week, he was not only left off the three All-NBA teams to end the season, he only registered seven total points in media voting.
“I’m pissed the last two years about that,” Wall told CSNmidatlantic.com on Thursday, when asked if the recognition he received for the NBA Cares Community Assist Award softened the blow. “I got snaked twice.”
This season, Wall put up career-highs in points(19.9), assists(10.2), rebounds(4.9), and steals(1.9). Wall’s numbers largely flew under the radar due to his team’s regression; in 2014-15, the Wizards won 46 games and made the Eastern Conference Semifinals. This year they went 41-41, failing to make the playoffs.
Despite his career year, Wall told Michael that he believes he was more deserving of an All-NBA selection in 2014-15, likely due to his team’s success.
At the age of 25, Wall is still very young. He’s one of the best five point guards in a league that is at an all-time high in point guard depth. Making an All-NBA team –particularly as a guard– is no easy task in today’s NBA, but it’s very likely that Wall will receive the selection that he craves one of these years.
