There has been a running question all season long about the horrible play of the Philadelphia 76ers and if they could fall to a college team. Of course, not just any college team, the most dominant college team, the Kentucky Wildcats.
It was kind of funny thing people said on twitter but out of no where, it became a topic of discussion among some former Kentucky players.
Betting odds have the 76ers as 17 point favorites against the Wildcats but now one of the most decorated and famous Wildcats of all time, John Wall, would disagree with the thought of Kentucky beating an NBA team.
Wall’s on the Dan Patrick Show, courtesy James Herbert of CBS Sports.
Could Kentucky compete with any team in the NBA this year?
Uh, no.
Against the Sixers, would Kentucky made it a game?
We lost to the 76ers, so no.
Kentucky against the Wizards?
No.
They have no chance?
No. ‘Cause the NBA game is totally different. College, you can sit in the paint all day and protect it.
I would tend to agree with Wall. The thought of a bunch of 18,19-year-old kids going up against seasoned NBA players, who have played against grown men to get to where they are, is a ridiculous thought. Kentucky is talented for sure but not that talented to be a team of professionals.
The Sixers aren’t the worst team in the NBA, anyway, with a record of 14-50 and the 12th-best defensive rating this season. If there’s any team we should be asking if Kentucky could beat, it should be the current New York Knicks. It might be tough though because we know the Knicks want everything to do with Kentucky players and they have scouted them heavily.
It would be a great game to watch though and it would definitely sell a ton of tickets.
