After a successful 49-33 season, the Washington Wizards took the number one seeded Boston Celtics to seven games after being eliminated in the second round. The Wizards got career season from their core players, their starting lineup created a dynamic chemistry, and above all else, John Wall exploded onto the scene and made his first All-NBA team.
Subsequently, the Wizards now have the opportunity to sign Wall to the supermax contract extension because of making the All-NBA 3rd team. Wall, who is a four-time All-Star, put together a career season for Washington and his contract is set to expire after the 2018-19 NBA season. Because of this, the Wizards are hoping to sign Wall long-term this offseason.

An extension with Wall will be the top priority of the offseason in which Otto Porter is also a restricted free agent, league sources tell CSNmidatlantic.com.
However, Wall won’t be quick to sign an extension with Washington, before their front office shows Wall a long-term plan to compete.
From league sources close to the situation, Wall wants to see a bigger picture plan on where the franchise is headed before committing for longer. The Wizards won 49 games this season and advanced to the conference semifinals for the third time in four years.
