
The first game of the biggest day in the NBA season was not without some drama. John Wall continues his terrific season to lead his Washington Wizards over the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden.
John Wall had 24 points, 11 assists and 6 rebounds on the day to lead the Wizards. Bradley Beal scored 17 points with 5 rebounds and 5 assists to join his backcourt partner in leading the Wizards. Nene had 12 points and Marcin Gortat scored 10 points along with 9 rebounds. Kris Humphries had 14 points off the bench with 6 rebounds and Rasual Butler joined him with 11 points and 6 rebounds.
Wall had a magical play early on in the game when he drove at the rim and finished a fantastic layup at the rim passed the Knicks defense. Wall also had a fantastic first half full of good plays as well.
Carmelo Anthony scored 34 points for the Knicks with Jose Calderon scoring 16 with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Cole Aldrich came off the bench to score 10 points and grab 4 rebounds. Carmelo Anthony continues to score a ton for the Knicks but gets no help. Melo has a career average of 34 points per game scored on Christmas Day and is fifth in the league in scoring.
Wall clowned the Knicks for 3 and 1/2 quarters before Quincy Acy knocked him down with a forearm shove just about midway through the fourth. Wall got up and pushed Acy, who responded with a kind-of punch that appeared to hit Wall behind the neck but connect with Nene’s chest. Acy was assesed a flagrant 2 foul and was ejected in the Christmas Day scuffle while Wall received a technical foul.
Knicks have the most losses in the NBA. They have dropped six straight and 16 of 17.
Washington Wizards are 20-8. New York Knicks are 5-26.
