The Washington Wizards have been, let’s be honest, garbage ever since the All-Star break. They’re struggling for wins and it couldn’t come at a worse time. With Cleveland getting hot, Atlanta staying hot, Toronto and Chicago in the mix too. The Wizards are losing grip of a decent place in the Playoffs. And unfortunately for John Wall, he is the engine of the Wizards. And if he isn’t on top form. The rest of the Wiz suffer. Even though we have all seen the sloppiness on Wall, he’s kept his mouth zipped about everything. But now, according to CSNWashington, Wall admits that he is beat up.
“Beat up,” Wall said, with a smile, when asked how he felt. “Beat up.”
“I’m trying to find some time to (rest),” he said. “I don’t like to miss games. I like to play and compete and give my team a chance to win with me out there. I know how valued I am. Going down the stretch, trying figure out a time when I can take a break or two. Just trying to get us some wins and get in a spot where we know we can be safe because I don’t want us to fall in a 6, 7 or 8 seed.”
“My teammates rely on me to do so much,” Wall said after Saturday’s 91-85 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks when he shot 3-for-14. “Got to find a way to get (my) legs back, get some energy back. Coming back from All-Star break I haven’t been nowhere near myself how I played the first half of the season.“
I feel kind of sorry for him. Other than Bradley Beal there really isn’t a Wizards player that can make his own shot. And Wall isn’t a shooter. If he can’t go to the hole his offensive output will be severed. He still gets assists. But the turnovers he’s been making recently have been atrocious. I’m afraid the Washington Wizards won’t make much of a dent in the Playoffs simply because Wall is running himself ragged. Beal has been injured for most of the season. Hopefully he comes back because John Wall really needs his number 2.
