TV pilot orders are flying fast at the moment and two have been handed out for projects based around unexpected premises.
The first is ABC’s “Heart of Life” which will use the popular 2006 John Mayer song as the basis for the show about two sets of siblings who meet for the first time as adults, forcing them to reevaluate their lives and the perception they had of their shared father.
Ben Queen (“Drive”) has written the pilot, while Mayer will executive produce along with Melvin Mar, Jake Kasdan and Paul Weitz.
Meanwhile, CBS has ordered three Thursday night pilots with one turning Mary Shelley’s classic “Frankenstein” into a police procedural series.
In this contemporary take, Dr. Victor Frankenstein resurrects a cop killed in the line of duty. “Burn Notice” scribe Jason Tracey will write the script and executive produce alongside Rob Doherty (“Elementary”).
