The Baltimore Ravens offense was a mess in 2016. Baltimore fired offensive coordinator Marc Trestman in October and promoted Marty Mornhinweg, a run-oriented coach. Head coach John Harbaugh knows his team needs to run the ball better in order to make it to the playoffs next season.
“We need another back,” Harbaugh said, via ESPN.com. “What type of back that is? I think we’re talking about it. We have a pretty good idea of the type of back we want to add.”
The Terrence West – Kenneth Dixon tandem was average for much of the season. If I had to guess the Ravens would like to target a back who can also catch the ball out of the backfield. Ravens running backs recorded just six runs and one reception over 20 yards. That was the lowest of any team in the NFL.
LSU’s Leonard Fournette, Florida State’s Dalvin Cook, and Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey appear to be the top rated backs in the 2017 NFL Draft. Baltimore currently holds the 16th pick in the first round and could conceivably pick one of these guys in the first round.
