It’s hard to convince John Calipari. I bet if I offered him a mint he’d go “No. I want bubblegum and no mint will fulfill my need for chewing.” Alright that’s a tad exaggeration there but you know where I’m coming from. It’s hard to change his morals, and that’s fine. But sometimes if you believe something hard enough. And said belief is disproved. It can be very devastating.
In this case. It’s Calipari’s belief that Kentucky would beat Wisconsin. According to Cal, even when Wisconsin surged back late in the game he thought the Wildcats would seal the deal.
“You know, it never entered my mind that we were going to lose,” Calipari told The Associated Press as he walked out of the high school gym. “When we were up four with five minutes to go, I thought it was over. Even when Wisconsin made that run, I thought we’d figure it out.
“We never, in my time at Kentucky, we just don’t lose that game.“
It was certainly a big loss. The loss that made a near perfect season exactly that. Near perfect.
But I believe that Cal will move on from the historic season. And build a new one. I mean. One & Done right?
