Joey Bada$$ has wrapped up filming the fourth season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan and he’s back in the booth. Over the last two weeks, the Brooklyn MC has gone back and forth with artists across the West Coast, including Daylyt, Ray Vaughn, Reason, and Az Chike. While he hasn’t gotten the reply from Kendrick Lamar that he has wanted for years, Joey Bada$$ is showing no signs of slowing down.
On May 21, 2025, Joey Bada$$ was featured on the latest episode of UPROXX’s Sound Check hosted by Jeremy Hecht. During his conversation with Hecht, he revealed his plans for the summer.
“The goal is to get the album out before August 30th,” he told Hecht.
August 30, 2025, is notably the end of the “Product Eligibility Period” for the 68th GRAMMY Awards. Despite producing critically acclaimed projects like 1999, All-Amerikkkan Badass, and Summer Knights, the rapper-turned-actor has never secured a GRAMMY nod or win. However, he’s put himself in a position to earn his first GRAMMY nod after releasing tracks like “The Ruler’s Back,” “My Town” featuring Loaded Lux, “The Finals,” and even “Sorry Not Sorry” to build up anticipation for his fourth album.
With that said, competition will be stiff following the release of Kendrick Lamar’s GNX, No ID and Saba’s From the Private Collection, and Central Cee’s Can’t Rush Greatness. Not to mention, Wale, Drake and potentially J. Cole could drop new projects before the end of the year.
