NBA fans, in particular, Philadelphia 76ers fans, woke up to a nice surprise on Wednesday morning as they saw a new episode of the highly acclaimed JJ Redick podcast with special guest Joel Embiid. The debut episode for Redick on the Ringer Podcast network did not disappoint with ‘The Process’.
Embiid has taken his talents to new heights this season and he’s been sure to make sure those who have gone against him hear about it. Hassan Whiteside, Andre Drummond and LaVar Ball have all fallen victim to the nice Joel Embiid troll in one way or another.

But it was something Embiid said on television during two separate interviews that garnered some special attention from Embiid.
J.J. Redick asked Joel Embiid about him clapping back at those who have gone against him in the past. One recent encounter was with ESPN analyst Jalen Rose. The co-host of ‘Jalen and Jacoby’ went in on Embiid after the Sixers star said his health was at ’69 percent’. Rose claimed Embiid saying that to a reporter, Molly Sullivan French of NBC Philadelphia, was unprofessional.

Embiid later clapped back at Rose saying he was at ’81 percent, shoutout Jalen Rose’. Joel claims he doesn’t understand what’s so important about the number 69.
“The thing with Jalen Rose, I mean, I made a comment. It was a random number. I was at 69 percent. I didn’t know what else they were talking about or what else they were thinking. You know, I’m from Africa, I’m new. Basically still new in the states. I don’t know what’s going on here. I don’t know why people were making fun of that number. I actually have no idea.”
If you also are like Joel and you don’t understand the joke around 69, just know that it’s a nice number.
You can listen to Redick ask some nice questions to Embiid starting at the 10:30 mark of the podcast, courtesy of the Ringer.
