A popular story yesterday was all about Rihanna’s number 1 fan Joel Embiid who is reportedly 300 pounds in weight. 50 more pounds than he was back in his freshman year at Kansas.
Well a day after the reports and Joel Embiid has spoken.
According to CSN Philly, he refutes the reports.
“I don’t weigh that,” Embiid said in passing at a D.C. hotel Sunday night with the Sixers in town to face the Wizards for a Martin Luther King Day matinée.
A team source backed him up, stating that 275 pounds has been the maximum weight for the 7-footer whom the Sixers selected with the third overall pick in last year’s draft.
“He looked good,” Brown said on Jan. 6. “He did all the things he needed to do physically, being with the trainer and conditioning.”
According to the Inquirer report, Embiid’s return from the trip was also due to a confrontation with trainer James Davis. That was neither confirmed nor denied, but sources say Embiid has expressed his frustrations with multiple people on the staff when working out this season.
There is a lot of conflicting reports now that Embiid and the Sixers have responded. People are saying he’s overweight. People are saying he hasn’t gained any more than 25 pounds.
I think this can all be remedied with proof that Embiid is working out. Other than shooting drills. I’m not seeing much from him in terms of rehabilitation.
