Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers missed the All-Star game this season by a small margin. However, next year, he plans on playing in All-Star Weekend as much as he possibly can, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.
Just visited pregame with @JoelEmbiid … who says his goal at ASW 2018 in LA is to take part in EVER All-Star event except the dunk contest

“Rising Stars, Skills, 3-Point and the big game,” Embiid says of 2018. Why no dunk contest? “I don’t have that kind of bounce,” he laments

The former Kansas Jayhawk was unable to participate in this year’s All-Star Weekend due to a torn meniscus he suffered on January 20. While he didn’t make the All-Star lineup, he was scheduled to participate in the Skills Challenge.
If Embiid were to participate in everything but the dunk contest, he would take place in the Skills Challenge, the Three-Point Contest, Rising Stars Challenge, and the All-Star Game itself.
This year, Embiid was third in the fan voting portion of the All-Star voting, only behind Giannis Antetotounmpo and LeBron James. In the player voting, he was eighth, and he was fifth in the media voting.
If Embiid can remain healthy, look for him to take over the 2018 All-Star Weekend.
