The past few days have been crazy for Joe Flacco. Everyone just needs to calm down….

On July 26, reports surfaced that Flacco was dealing with a disc issue in his back and was going to miss a good amount of time.

#Ravens QB Joe Flacco is preparing to miss 3-6 wks with a disc issue in his back. Out at least a week or 2, sources tell me & @TomPelissero.

Not even an hour later, new reports claimed that Flacco would only miss a week of training camp.

Joe Flacco has a back injury, as @nflnetwork reported. Team does not think it serious, per two sources who expect Flacco to miss one week.

Coach Harbaugh said that Joe Flacco is expected to miss about a week of practice because of a back issue, but he’s expected to be OK.

Jeff Zrebiec, Ravens beat writer for the Baltimore Sun, gave us the latest on the Flacco situation earlier today.

Flacco said he’s taking back injury day to day but he’s feeling better. Hoping it will be just a week.

— Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiecsun) July 28, 2017

Asked if it was disc issue, he said, “no. Just a little stiffness.”

— Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiecsun) July 28, 2017

Flacco said he’s been assured that with rest now, injury won’t hinder him for rest of season.

— Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiecsun) July 28, 2017

What even caused all of this drama to unfold? Flacco hit the weights….too hard.

Joe Flacco injured his back lifting. Took an MRI. Team believes a week of rest will calm injury and not expected to miss significant time.

As soon as talks came out surrounding Flacco’s back issues, one name kept popping up: Colin Kaepernick. In all honesty, he could find himself in a Ravens jersey before the start of the regular season.

#Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters he’s been in contact with Colin Kaepernick this summer. There is interest. Depends what Kap wants

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) July 27, 2017

Harbaugh said Kaepernick has told him he’s been working out and is in good shape. Harbaugh said Ravens still weighing need, fit

The Ravens signed a new QB last night, but not the guy everyone was expecting.

UPDATE: #Ravens signed Arena Football QB David Olson today (via @DraftDiamonds) pic.twitter.com/Kr0ppeFX7L

If you told me you knew Olson before this signing, I would call your bluff. He played for Ravens coach Jim Harbaugh at Stanford and will most likely just be a training camp arm.

The door isn’t shut on Kaepernick. When asked about Kaep coming on, Flacco said, “we need an extra arm.” Check out his full response.

If the Ravens do sign Kaep, does Flacco get back on the field sooner? Okay, it’s not that dire of a situation.

But who knows, maybe Olson takes the starting gig. Or maybe this guy….

Flacco will be fine.
