Successful sportscaster Joe Buck is slated to guest host a few episodes of Jeopardy! this summer. At this time, it is unclear at what point during the summer and for how long Buck will host the iconic trivia show.
Buck will be the second member of the sports world to venture into Jeopardy! land. From April 5 through April 16, NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers hosted the show. Other guest hosts include Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Katie Couric, Savannah Guthrie and Ken Jennings.
One person who has not had the opportunity to fill in as a guest host is LeVar Burton. Fans have angeled for the actor to host the show and he has hopped on the bandwagon. A petition pushing for him to host the show has garnered nearly 250,000 signatures.
“This petition is to show Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. and producers Mike Richards and Harry Friedman just how much love the public has for Burton, and how much we’d all love to see him as the next host of Jeopardy,” the petition reads.
Thus far, Bill Whittaker is the only Black person to guest host the show. No Black woman has guest host the show either.
At this time, NBC has not identified who will host the show permanently following the passing of legendary host Alex Trebek.
