President Joe Biden will reportedly addressing Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine on Thursday morning.
“The President will deliver remarks on support for Ukrainians defending their country and their freedom against Russia’s brutal war,” a statement from the White House reads, according to Reuters.
Biden’s remarks comes shortly after Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin travelled to Kyiv and spoke with President Volodymyr Zelensky. Much like Biden, Both Blinken and Austin pledged their continued support for Ukraine during the violent conflict.
“We want to see Russia weakened to the degree that it can’t do the kinds of things that it has done in invading Ukraine,” Austin stated on Monday, according to The Hill.
“We want to see the international community more united, especially NATO, and we’re seeing that, and that’s based upon the hard work of, number one, President Biden, but also our Allies and partners who have willingly leaned into this with us as we’ve imposed sanctions.”
Thus far, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has reportedly killed “thousands” of people and displaced more than 5 million more Ukraine residents. In response, the Biden administration has offered more than $1 trillion in military aid packages.
