In January, Joe Biden was sworn in as President of the United States. At 78 years old, he is the oldest President in American history. However, he is not letting his age slow him down one bit. He’s traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to meet with leaders within the AAPI community to discuss the recent spike in violence against Asian-Americans. Earlier this afternoon, he held his first formal news conference in the White House as President. Later this week, he will continue to ramp up his COVID-19 vaccine distribution efforts. If he has anything to do with it, Biden will be doing this for eight years, not four.
President Joe Biden has indicated that he will run for President again in 2024. At 82 years old, Biden would be the first President to serve the American people in his 80’s.
“My plan is to run for reelection, that’s my expectation,” he said.
The President stands firm in his desire to run again in 2024. He could face stiff opposition within his own party as he did during the most recent election cycle. Also, Donald Trump looms as a potential challenger within the Republican Party. Still, he remains undeterred.
“I said that’s my expectation,” he told reporters.
“Look, I don’t understand where you guys come from. … I’m a great respecter of fate, I’m not going to be able to plan 3 1/2 years ahead for certain.”
