
President-Elect Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, were spotted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In an effort to honor King Jr.’s legacy of service, the Bidens partnered with hunger relief nonprofit, Philabundance, to pack food boxes for those in need. With the help of their transition team, the couple assisted in packing more than 150 boxes over the course of an hour.

Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, are expected to volunteer later today in the nation’s capital. Later, Harris, Emhoff and the Bidens will host a virtual ceremony honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Rosario Dawson, Rev. Al Sharpton and Yo-Yo Ma are expected to join the ceremony. Civil rights activists Rev. Dr. Bernice King and Martin Luther King III are also expected to deliver remarks.
Today’s events set the stage for Wednesday’s event. Both Biden and Harris will be sworn in during a private ceremony in the nation’s capital on January 20.
