President Joe Biden will make an announcement regarding the upcoming election “relatively soon.”
“I’ve already made that calculus. We’ll announce it relatively soon. But the trip here just reinforced my sense of optimism about what can be done,” the President told a group of reporters as he left Ireland for the United States.
The upcoming election is already underway as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Marianne Williamson have thrown their hats in the race for the Democratic nomination. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump, former Governor Nikki Haley and former Governor Asa Hutchinson have entered the race for the Republican nomination. As the field continues to grow, the President maintains that he will run for re-election.
“Are you saying that you would be taking part in our upcoming election in 2024? Help a brother out, make some news for me,” Roker asked.
“I plan on running Al, but we’re not prepared to announce it yet,” Biden answered.
At the earliest, The Hill reports that the President may “wait until the summer” to launch his re-election campaign. If he does move forward, Biden, 80, would be the oldest President to run for re-election.
