Well I considered this a lock. Joakim Noah this year has been outstanding and the fact that his constant effort clearly rubs off the other players, it was a lock that Noah would get defensive player of the year.

And what’s better is that it was more of an eye test, not stats. Sixth in rebounds (11.3), 12th in blocks (1.5) and 41st in steals (1.2). Not all that, especially to win DPOY honours but it was his presence. Opponents were 46.8% at the rim when he was there. The Bulls were first in points allowed per game.
And the fact that he has one of the best defensive coaches in the league. All the more reason for Noah and his Bulls squad to be defensive beasts.
