Warner Bros. has just announced that they will be teaming up with JK Rowling yet again to turn her textbook ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ by fictitious author Newt Scamander into a film.
The film will follow Newt Scamander and involve magical creatures that have appeared throughout the ‘Harry Potter’ series.
“Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” said Rowling.
‘Fantastic Beasts’ is set to be the first venture in a new line of films that takes place seventy years before ‘Harry Potter’ starts.
This will be the first screenplay Rowling has written.
“Having lived for so long in my fictional universe, I feel very protective of it and I already knew a lot about Newt.'” said Rowling. “As hardcore Harry Potter fans will know, I liked him so much that I even married his grandson, Rolf, to one of my favorite characters from the Harry Potter series, Luna Lovegood.”
The ‘Harry Potter’ film series is the highest grossing film series of all time with an estimated $7.7 billion in worldwide ticket sales.
