It has been reported that there is a chance J.J. Redick will no longer be a Clipper next season. Going to be in his age-33 season next year, the Clippers may look to go younger. There are also, reportedly, a few teams interested in Redick.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski on a recent podcast, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Brooklyn Nets, and the Philadelphia 76ers appear to be the teams taking a long look at the veteran sharp shooter. The team in the lead, per Woj, is the 76ers, who are in desperate need of a veteran presence.
“Redick is a guy who at least in the short term who give them a guy who comes in and start to space the floor a little bit and gives them the reason why they wanted Manu Ginobili last year… they wanted Manu to come in and be a mentor, be a veteran.”
The fit makes a lot of sense, for the 76ers at least. They need 3pt shooting, a veteran presence, and someone who can mentor their young players while still improving the team. J.J. can do all of those things for a team that may not be looking to tank any longer after this draft. Philadelphia will be loaded with talent next season and J.J. Redick should really consider signing in Philly.
