Former NBA player JJ Hickson was arrested June 15 in connection with an armed robbery in Atlanta, authorities confirmed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitutional. The 29-year-old Hickson was charged with armed robbery with a knife and is currently in jail without bond.
Hickson was charged in connection with a home invasion in Coweta County, Georgia. Two other individuals were involved, but only Hickson has been arrested according to the AJC. Coweta County spokesperson tells the AJC that a number of items were stolen from the house and someone was attacked.
“The victim was beat up pretty good and they took some personal items from the residence and at that point in time through the help of a canvass we were able to identify a suspect and a suspect vehicle. We were able to identify a suspect from that,” said Captain John Kennedy, via Kerry Charles of Fox 5 in Atlanta.
JJ Hickson was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 19th pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. He would go on to play for Sacramento, Portland, Denver and Washington throughout his eight-year NBA career. Hickson was out of the NBA by 2016, signing with a Chinese team in August of that year. He most-recently played overseas with the Lebanon Champville SC team in 2018. Hickson averaged 9.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in his NBA career.
