In an interview with Collider, JJ Abrams has announced he will not return to direct ‘Star Trek 3’.
“It’s a little bittersweet,” said Abrams. “Whomever it is that directs the film will be someone we all know is going to keep the cast and crew in good hands.”
He will stay on as one of the producers for the film.
“I feel very lucky to have been part of it, and it definitely feels like the right time to let someone come in and do their own thing.” said Abrams.
Abrams last installment ‘Star Trek Into the Darkness’ grossed $465 million worldwide.
