Happy April Fools Day, a day when we realise what sites are real and what sites are fake. Which is why whatever you read on this here site, it’ll be facts and only facts.
So yesterday we were getting word of the Chicago Bulls considering a franchise altering move. Shipping off team leader Jimmy Butler. It’s something that is a definite option, but payoff will have to be a truckload.
Butler has heard this talk and has spoken on it, the stance is clear.
“That’s why I’m here,” Butler told ESPN.com after Thursday night’s 103-100 win over the Houston Rockets. “I don’t plan on going anywhere. I can’t control what everybody else does. I know that this is the city that I love, Chicago. And I want to wear that jersey. I want to wear that name on the front, and I wear it proudly. All I got to do is continue to control what I can control. That’s try to help this team win games.”
Now I said that the Bulls will need to make changes after this utter fail of a season, but trading away your best player? Seems a bit of a risk. I know Butler and Hoiberg clearly don’t get on but they should be able to build up some sort of relationship.
I honestly think they should trade Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah, while they can still play at a decent level. Keep Butler, give Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott bigger roles and hope they get something good for DRose and Noah. Yes it’s a pill to swallow but personally I think it’d be for the best.
