When you’re a player like Jimmy Butler. A lot of teams want to snatch you up, give you a max deal and utilize your peak years as a professional basketball player and that’s fine, if you’re wanted by many teams that means you’re doing something right.
Yesterday there were reports that the Los Angeles Lakers, among other teams were showing interest towards Butler. But Jimmy has decided to silence the rumors and say that he plans to stay with the Chicago Bulls.
“This is a place for me. I love playing with the guys that we have,” he said. “They continue to bring in great, high character guys that fit the team role. I love it here. I’m happy to be here.”
I can hear the Lakers fans already. “Screw that guy! We don’t need him!”
I also said yesterday that Butler is the most important Bulls player, next to Joakim Noah. You may see Rose’s buzzer beater from last night and think I’m mental but the fact of the matter is that Butler does more. Rebounding, defensive ability. He’s top 5 if there was a ranking for “best two-way player”. And that’s something you can’t put a price on.
