Jimmy Butler deserves an award for leading a team that refuses to get on the same page when it comes to chemistry.
Understand that Jimmy Butler has grown so much over the past year. He’s gone from the number 3 player on the Bulls, to the outright leader, executing perfect Alley-oops with Pau Gasol and possibly being half of one of the best backcourts in the NBA.
The alley-oops have been there, granted. And Derrick Rose has been relatively healthy for most of the season. But the Bulls have been horribly inconsistent. This has been partly due to Jimmy Butler getting injured at a critical time.
Now when it comes to Butler and his health, he’s kind of trying to keep himself together, surgery after the season has been talked about but Jimmy Buckets hopes it won’t come to that.
According to a source, Butler was told that exploratory surgery on the knee was in play as soon as the season comes to an end. […] And while he was initially vague when asked about it, the All-Star didn’t take that scenario off the table.
“Maybe. I hope not,” Butler said. “Is my knee the same as it was before the injury? No. But I want to play, man. And at times I feel like I’m hurting this team. That’s the most disappointing part because I’m not the player I was. I don’t know if there’s something really wrong in there, but it’s not really right, either. But I’ll be fine. I have to figure out a way to help us win playing with this. That’s all I’m worried about.”
Hurting the team? Are you joking? Jimmy Butler has been a silver lining to this dark season. A talent coming into his own, it’s just a shame he got injured and the team couldn’t make it work. I understand how he thinks that he might’ve been a little raw as leader of the team and tried to throw the head coach under the bus, but in my opinion he’s low on the Bulls’ list of problems.
