Jill and Joe Biden met with Jacob Blake’s family after arriving at Mitchell International Airport on Thursday. Blake’s father, two sisters and brother were present at the gathering. Reports indicate the group met for roughly one hour as the Biden campaign travels to Kenosha, Wisconsin. Biden will host a community event there this afternoon before meeting with local officials.
Biden’s trip comes just days after President Donald Trump visited Kenosha. Trump met with local leaders and spoke with local business owners who had been affected by protests but did not meet with Blake’s family. Trump had previously said that he spoke with Blake’s family pastor, but Jacob Blake Sr. refuted those claims and asserted that the Blakes don’t have a family pastor.
Jacob Blake remains hospitalized nearby. According to his father and his attorney, Blake is paralyzed from the waist down.
More recently, members of the Blake family attend the National Action Network’s March on Washington. Moving forward, the family intends to pursue legal action against local law enforcement.
