Isaiah Crowell has been one of the few bright spots the Cleveland Browns have had over the past four seasons. In 2014, the Browns signed Crowell as an undrafted free agent. Crowell has yet to miss a game in his career and has started every game in the last two seasons for Cleveland. Crowell is coming off a season with 206 carries, 853 yards, and two rushing touchdowns.
Crowell will join a Jets backfield that already includes Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire. The Jets are coming off a season were they exceeded expectations starting out 4-6, but ended the season 5-11 after struggling through the second half of their schedule and dropping 5 out of their last six games. New York had 3 of their five wins come against playoff teams (Jaguars, Bills, Chiefs). This Jets team is full of youth despite their quarterback situation and they’ve showed flashes of playing at a high level.
With Matt Forte retiring this offseason, signing Crowell makes sense for the Jets. This may be the start of a busy free agency for the Jets, who started off the day with $89 million in salary cap space.
