The New York Jets have added to their stable of cornerbacks. The Jets will sign former Cleveland Browns corner Buster Skrine to a four year, $25 million dollar deal. Skrine will now serve as the nickle corner behind Dee Milliner and the newly acquired Darrelle Revis. Former teammate and all pro corner Joe Haden shared his joy for Skrine landing a hefty new contract.
Do your thing @BusterSkrine really happy 4 u lil bro! The meeting room won’t B the same! True example of the hard work pays off! ????????????????????

The Byron Maxwell effect may have been in place here. Playing opposite of a all pro corner absolutely raised the price tag for Skrine’s services. Seahawks corner Byron Maxwell was over paid because of his play opposite of Richard Sherman. The same can be said of Skrine opposite of the magnificent Joe Haden. By all means Skrine is a mediocre corner but could prove valuable in a slot role. The Jets secondary is by all means coming together. New head coach Todd Bowles is a defensive back coach at heart so upgrading the secondary was the teams number one goal. The Browns now hope 2014 first round pick Justin Gilbert can effectively slide into Skrine’s role.
