Former 2,000 yard back Chris Johnson, or otherwise known as CJ2K will be released by the Jets in the coming days. The Gang Green have until Monday to decide on paying a 500,000 bonus. The Jets are unwilling to pay it thus ending Johnson’s tenure in New York.
While Johnson wasn’t entirely effective in the big apple I believe he still has some tread on the tires. The Colts are one team that comes to mind. Trent Richardson’s days are numbered and Johnson could be a nice receiving threat for Andrew Luck. A case could also be mad for the Cowboys. Demarco Murray may not be back and Joseph Randle is in trouble with the law. Other teams that could be interested include Philadelphia, Baltimore, Green Bay, Chicago, Atlanta, Carolina, St. Louis, and San Diego.
Johnson’s departure creates an additional 3.5 Million in cap space for the Jets. The move also clears the way for a Chan Gailey, C.J. Spiller reunion rumor. Gailey coached the Bills while Spiller had his one breakout season. The Jets have an abundance of cap room questioning what the team will do next.
