The New York Jets have decided to put their faith in Mike Mccagnan and Todd Bowles for the time being. The team being 5-10 didn’t worry ownership apparently they released this statement this morning.
“We are very happy to have extended both Mike and Todd. During their time here, they have worked together to help the organization build a foundation on which to grow,” Jets CEO Christopher Johnson said in a statement. “They are identifying, developing, and getting productivity out of our players. I believe we are headed in the right direction. This provides us continuity and stability as we continue to move this team towards sustained success. We still have a lot of work to do and I am excited to work closely with both of them as we move forward.”
These extensions both are for 2 years and now has them running the team through the 2020 season. The ownership had been hinting recently that it was pleased with the season result considering it was a rebuilding year. They stated in the begging of the year they would be judged based on team progress not wins and losses. Bowles is 20-27 in his three seasons as a head coach.
The first thing this team is going to address moving forward is the huge question mark at their quarterback position. With this upcoming draft loaded with prospects at the very same spot, it will a huge opportunity for this franchise to turn their recent struggles into a winning culture.
