In this world, there are two types of people. First, there are those who admit they have lied when they have been asked how they’re doing. Second, there are liars. A 2022 study highlighted by CBS News found that the average American lies about four times per day. If researchers were to dig deeper, then they may have found that the average American is asked how they’re doing about four times per day too. It’s a mere formality to say, “I’m doing fine.” In reality, there are days when we’ll say that we’re fine when nothing is working in our favor. At those moments, a mental or even physical getaway is needed. Using her musical gifts, Bronx native jessa tries to deliver that mental getaway with her latest single, “Saying I’m Fine.”
“When someone asks how you’re doing, why do we always feel obligated to say we’re fine, even if we’re struggling? I feel like I’ve been on autopilot for a long time; it’s a tactic I use to cope with having intrusive thoughts,” she said about the single.
“Instead of searching for an external source of happiness, I’ve been trying to get better at finding happiness by being my most authentic self. I’ve been practicing intentionality with everything I do, which has allowed me to feel like I’m finally coming into myself on a personal level.”
By searching for an escape in times of need, she connects with us all because we have all been where she’s at. If you’re in need of a mental getaway, “Saying I’m Fine” is the perfect soundtrack. Check it out below.
