Jerry West has been an outspoken member of the Golden State Warriors front office since Kevin Durant joined them back on the 4th of July. KD and the Dubs appear to be a match made in heaven to the Warriors but everyone else has differing opinions.
The list of people with an opinion on Durant joining the Warriors is quite star-studded. It includes NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, thoughts from former NBA coach, and possible future high school coach, Larry Brown, the often open-minded Tracy McGrady, his adversary in LeBron James and even the newly retired Kobe Bryant. Even Durant had the chance to defend himself. Everyone has something to say, good bad or indifferent, but West has stayed strong on his point. It’s free agency for a reason and he can do as he pleases.
Another big point West has been making for a while has been if he had the ability to leave, he would’ve also. Back in his day, the chances for players to leave in free agency were non-existent. You got drafted by a team and you’re most like going to stay there for the entirety of your career.
West recently had a chance to sit down with Jordan Schultz of the Huffington Post and revealed more thoughts on Durant joining the Warriors and also the team he always wanted to join as a player. The New York Knicks.
