NBA legend Jerry West was hospitalized on Tuesday after collapsing at a country club, according to TMZ. He was transported to the hospital by paramedics.
Fortunately, it appears that West is doing better, having already been released and now resting at home.
At 78 years old, West is as important to the NBA’s history as anyone. His playing days as a Los Angeles Lakers legend led to him becoming the logo of the league. As an executive and consultant, he had major impacts on the success of two franchises as he led the efforts to team up Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal in L.A. and later helped form the Warriors’ emergence as a powerhouse.
West has been crucial to the development and growth of the NBA. He is as notable as many of the other figures that have led to its success.
The good news here is that West appears to be fine after the initial scare. However, we do not know any true details about the incident.
We can only hope for the best and wish Jerry West a speedy recovery. Our thoughts are with him and his family and we hope to see him back to helping NBA franchises succeed once again.
