The Dallas Cowboys have found a way to get in the headlines again but this time it wasn’t the attention they wanted. In an age where bad publicity = good publicity, this bit of news might be the best.
The Oklahoma stripper that released the photos of Jerry Jones last month, is now filing a lawsuit against him for sexual assault. While Jerry’s camp maintains that the million dollar lawsuit is just an attempt at extortion, the evidence seems to be piling up against the world’s most famous sports owner.
The woman alleges that Jones and the Cowboys threatened her in order to keep lawmaking officials at bay. Her attorney claims that her plea has been “consistent and credible”.
Meanwhile, after the 5 year old pictures were released in early August, Jones said,
“Someone has misrepresented photos taken at a restaurant five years ago for their own purposes,”
The man who tweeted the photos, in a 20 page manifesto explained specifically that it was an extortion plot planned to bring down Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys organization.
While the league thus far hasn’t pursued the case, this news has came at the worst possible time. With Ray Rice being suspended indefinitely, and poor decisions being made league-wide from owners down to scout team members; The NFL is suffering its worst PR plight since 1963 when Commissioner Pete Rozelle decided to play the weekend after John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
In the 28 – 17 loss to the 49ers on Sunday, ‘Jerryworld’ was dominated by 49ers fans. Some reports speculate that with a capacity crowd of 105,000 over 60% of those occupants were wearing red and gold. Jerry Jones’ feeble attempts to manage his team and fan base are failing, and this news will likely mark the beginning of the end of the very mediocre Jerry Dynasty.
