Comedian, actor, writer, producer and director Jerrod Carmichael has added another title to his lengthy resume. In January, he will host the 80th Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, California.
“We’re so excited to have Jerrod Carmichael host the historic 80th Golden Globe Awards,” Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Helen Hoehne said.
“His comedic talents have entertained and thrilled audiences while providing thought-provoking moments that are so important in the times we live. Jerrod is the special kind of talent this show calls for to kick off the awards season.”
The award ceremony will air on a network that Carmichael has grown fond of throughout his career — NBC. From 2015 through 2017, Carmichael appeared in The Carmichael Schow alongside Lil’ Rel Howery, David Alan Grier, Tiffany Haddish, Loretta Devine and Amber Stevens West. Most recently, he hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live.
“Jerrod is a phenomenal talent with a fresh perspective and excellent comedic style,” executive producer Jesse Collins said.
“We’re all thrilled to have him host this year’s show.”
The 80th Golden Globe Awards are set to take place on January 10, 2023 via NBC.
