Actor, writer, comedian and all around creative Jerrod Carmichael will make his theatrical directorial debut with a “darkly comedic thriller” called On The Count of Three. The film will feature Carmichael along with Tiffany Haddish, J.B. Smoove, Lavell Crawford, Christopher Abbott and Henry Winkler.
Behind the scenes, Carmichael will produce the film alongside Jimmy Price, Tom Werner, Jake Densen, Adam Paulsen and David Carrico. Ramy co-creators Ari Katcher and Ryan Welch will write the upcoming film.
No major details have been revealed about the film. It has simply been described as a “darkly comedic thriller”. Filiming has reportedly began in Canada.
Prior to his debut as a feature film direct, Carmichael built up a resume as a director on the small screen. Carmichael played an integral role in The Carmichael Show. He also put together the deeply personal Home Videos. Most recently, he directed Lil’ Rel’s HBO comedy special, Live In Crenshaw, earlier this year.
There is no set release date for the film as of yet.
