Jermaine Dupri has announced a forthcoming So So Def special. Titled Power, Influence, and Hip-Hop: The Remarkable Rise of So So Def, the documentary tells the history of So So Def.
According to Broadway World, the special features “never-before-seen archival footage and original interviews with Dupri’s contemporaries including Mariah Carey, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Will.I.Am, Da Brat, Bow Wow, and Nelly.”
Jermaine Dupri tweeted about the special on Tuesday night stating,
“I always said if I was able to get a tv special, I wanted it in a space where everyone could see it,following in the footsteps of Motown 25,I cant assume everyone has this and that different streaming service,so with that being said on July 18th I need everyone tuned in @WEtv”
The documentary special will premiere on Sunday, June 23 at SeriesFest in Denver, Colorado. It will also air on WE tv on Thursday, July 18.
