The Los Angels Lakers were down by 1 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, 104-103 with a chance to win the game win 6.3 seconds left. No question Kobe Bryant was taking the last shot. He received an inbound pass heading to his left with Andre Roberson defending him. He pump-faked, then rose, and fired a 17-footer that came up a bit short. Kobe was 3-15 on the night who looked very fatigue throughout the contest.
Head coach Byron Scott, when asked about the decision to go to Bryant in that situation despite the off night shooting, responded by saying simply, “32,000-plus points.”
Jeremy who was 5-7 from the field with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists understood that Kobe will be taking the last shot but admitted he’d like to get the chance at taking some of those game-winners himself.
Baxter Holmes of ESPN LA reported the following:
“How many game-winners has he hit like that?” Lin asked, referencing Bryant. “I’m obviously rooting for him to hit that shot. I thought it was a good look. It was a very, very hittable shot. That’s just a matter of time before he starts hitting those game-winners.”
Then Lin added, “I like game-winners too. I would love to shoot some. But I get it. That guy is kind of the king of game-winners. He’s going to hit that shot. He’ll figure it out. That’s why he is who he is.”
Lin understand that Kobe has hit plenty of game-winners in his 19 year career but Lin would obviously love to have the opportunity to have a play drawn up for him again, going back to his Linsanity days. The real question is, will he ever get that opportunity again?
