Jennifer Lopez will be honored with the Fashion Icon Award at 2019 CFDA Fashion Awards.
The singer, dancer, and actress will be recognized for her bold fashion statements over the years. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, CFDA’s president and CEO Steven Kolb stated,
“There are so many worthy candidates, and everyone has really strong opinions, because style is objective, in terms of what people like and what looks good. But Jennifer has always been a steady presence in fashion and continues to be bold and make statements, and she’s someone who’s always noticed and talked about, and that makes her a perfect choice.”
Kolb continued,
“Sometimes when we dress we get super comfortable in our uniform or our go-to designers, right? But that’s not Jennifer. She likes to mix it up, and that has a lot to do with the reason she’s getting the award this year.”
Jennifer Lopez joins previous winners of the Fashion Icon award such as Rihanna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Naomi Campbell, and Pharrell Williams.
This year’s CFDA Awards, which will take place at the Brooklyn Museum, will be held on June 3.
Jennifer Lopez is also set to star in a new upcoming film titled Hustlers. She will star alongside Cardi B, Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, and more this September.
