Jennifer Lopez will star in the upcoming movie, ‘Hustlers’. The film will be about a group of strippers who take their life into their own hands and band together to steal money from the Wall Street clientele. The Annapurna picture will star Lopez as the ringleader of this group and will be directed by Lorene Scafaria.
Scafaria herself was inspired by a New York Times Magazine article by Jessica Pressler called ‘The Hustlers at Scores’. According to Scafaria the movie will be set in New York City right before the financial crisis and will explore the toll of the job on these burlesque dancers.
The film is also set to take on the important and highly discussed topics of gender roles and the effects it has on society on a day to day basis. Mostly, in the fact that Men are valued by how much money in their pockets and women are valued by how good they look. While the movie is still in development, this will be a must-see film with the issue being a prevailing one in society today.
Scafaria herself said that she had envisioned Lopez for the role and we know that the ‘Maid in Manhattan’ actress can cat, so I for one am excited about this movie.
