Actor Jeffrey Wright will star alongside Michael Fassbender in the upcoming series from Paramount+ with Showtime. The series, which has begun production in London, is a CIA thriller inspired by the French drama, Le Bureau des Legendes.
“Based on real accounts and inspired by contemporary events, this French spy thriller follows the daily lives and missions of members of the country’s external security service — France’s equivalent of the CIA. It focuses on intelligence officer Guillaume Debailly, code named ‘Malotru,’ who is mysteriously recalled to Paris after spending six years under cover in Syria,” the Le Bureau des Legendes synopsis reads, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
“As he tries to re-connect with his daughter, ex-wife and colleagues, Debailly risks everything by resuming contact with his married lover, Nadia, who might have secrets of her own that jeopardize the agent.”
In the U.S. adaptation, Wright will play the role of Henry, the director of operations at the London CIA office. Wright’s character is a mentor to Fassbender’s character, Martian. Martian’s life is turned upside down when he’s ordered to abandon his undercover identity and he rekindles a romance with a long lost love, but balancing a life in espionage with dating is more difficult than he could ever imagine.
