The New York Knicks have dealt with their fair share of turmoil throughout the years. From coaching issues to player issues, they’re eventually going to have to make moves in free agency and not rely solely on the draft. However, this is difficult to do when you don’t have any All-Star caliber players signed long term excluding Carmelo Anthony. Players around the league more likely than not aren’t intrigued by what the Knicks are doing and New York has looked like a stopping ground for players trying to rejuvenate their careers.
The Knicks have been running the Triangle offense much more post All-Star break due to their lack of competing for a playoff spot and Phil Jackson is evaluating how they play in it. As long as Phil is running the show in New York, the Triangle will be in effect.
Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek stated the following, according to Ian Begley of ESPN.
“There might be players that think (the triangle offense is a deterrent) but there are also probably players out there that say ‘Oh man, I’d like to run something like that,'” Hornacek said on Wednesday. “There are guys that may not necessarily like to run around and in (screen) staggers and all that stuff. It’s still an offense where guys, if they’re knowledgeable about the game, should like.”
