The Los Angeles Lakers are trash with a capital “T”. You could say that’s a good thing but since everybody is still in the “Kobe Bryant’s Muse” bubble. I’m going to simply say that losing is bad. It is. Tanking is still something that I can’t deal with. If my team did that. I would never forget it. Even if they have a dominance on a “Russell’s Celtics” level. I can’t forget the trash years that the Lakers, Knicks, 76’ers are having currently. It’s painful to watch and I don’t even support those teams.
So when Jeanie Buss says that she’ll step in if she doesn’t see improvements. I believe her.
“I’ve been assured by our basketball operations that the team will be back in contention soon. If we are not meeting those goals, then changes have to occur,” Buss said in a recent interview with Los Angeles News Group in her office at the Lakers’ practice facility in El Segundo. “I have no reason not to believe them when they tell me that’s what they can deliver. I don’t see what would be holding them back.“
“… we owe it to our shareholders, fans and partners that we have to move in a different direction to get this team back into contention,” Jeanie Buss said. “We made a commitment that we would operate the team the way Dr. Buss ran it.”
“This is uncharted territory I am not prepared for,” Buss said. “I hear the fans and hear their frustration. I’m hoping with every game, it’s going to get better. I’m as impatient as any other Lakers fan.“
That last sentence is the reason why I believe her. She’s a Lakers fan. The Buss family ARE the Lakers. Kupchak and brother Jim are clearly cooking something up. But it’s very unclear as to what it is right now.
I’m definitely in Jeanie’s camp of concern.
