The NBA has been at the forefront of technological advances as far as professional sports leagues go. That’s been especially true in terms of how games are broadcasted with NBA League Pass being a huge product and recent dabbling into virtual reality.
Now, most individual teams are making those advances, as well. Andy Larsen of KSL.com reports that the Utah Jazz will offer streaming options for games to fans in their market. This new availability will begin in the 2017-18 season. The Jazz were one of three teams to not offer such a service last season.
There has been no finalization of how the streaming will work. Larsen reports that the broadcasts will likely be available on DirecTV Now or Playstation Vue. There are also indications that those who already subscribe to the Jazz’ TV partner – ROOT Sports – will not have to make any additional purchases to get the product. Conversely, those who do not have a television subscription can pay for the streaming service as a standalone product.
This is obviously huge news for Jazz fans in the Utah area. Before the availability of this service, they could not watch their team online as Leaguepass blacks out games in local markets.
