The rapper and mogul will be presented with the President’s Award by NAACP’s President, Derrick Johnson. The honor, which is given to an individual who showcases great public service and concern for issues that plague Black communities, this honor fits JAY-Z well due to recent works like launching the REFORM Alliance. Jay’s Roc Nation collective was also responsible for getting a 6th grader’s charges dismissed after his refusal to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Deserving of such an award, in true HOV fashion, we know that his giving isn’t going to stop here. Congratulations, JAY-Z.
