Hip-Hop’s first billionaire may soon become Hip-Hop’s first NFL owner. According to reports from TMZ, Jay-Z may be closing in on becoming a part-owner of an NFL franchise.
According to sources close to the Brooklyn native, Jay-Z has “significant ownership interest.” Furthermore, sources indicate that “it is going to happen in the near future.” However, the report did not name any specific franchise the Grammy award winner would be interested in.
According to the report, Jay-Z’s interests are simple. He’s interested in becoming an NFL owner “because he’s a huge fan, already has a sports business and wants to continue to be a change agent for the NFL.”
The news of Jay-Z’s interest in becoming an NFL owner comes just days after he signed off on a controversial deal with the league. As previously reported, Jay-Z’s Roc Nation has signed off on a long-term deal that will give the company creative input on the Super Bowl halftime show. In addition, Roc Nation will partner with the league on future social justice initiatives.
Jay-Z has yet to confirm TMZ’s report.
