Jay-Z performed songs from throughout his career Friday evening at the Meadows Music and Arts Festival in Queens. Tidal has Jay’s entire performance here.
Jay opened the show with “Run This Town” followed with “No Church in the Wild.” Since Jay-Z had not performed in the city since 2014, he gave the crowd an extended version of “Empire State of Mind.” The list of hits also included “Izzo,” “99 Problems,” and “Numb” — dedicated to Linkin Park’s lead singer, Chester Bennington, who committed suicide on July 20, 2017.
Later in the set saw singles performed from Jay’s 13th album, 4:44. Damian Marley was introduced for a performance of “Bam.” “The Story of O.J.” was dedicated to Colin Kaepernick and Dick Gregory. “I want to dedicate this song to Colin Kaepernick tonight,” Jay-Z stated during his performance. “I want to dedicate this song to Dick Gregory. I want to dedicate this song to anybody who was held back and you overcame what it was.”
Friday’s concert set the stage for what fans can expect from Jay Z’s 4:44 tour starting October 27. The first stop on the tour is the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
