
Jay-Z officially enters the legal weed industry after announcing a partnership with California based cannabis company as chief brand strategist.
All Jay-Z and Hip-Hop fans, in general, know the drug-dealing past of Mr. Carter. Joining the Caliva brand may bring back some old habits and skills however now, the legal way. As the cannabis industry continues to grow and more states decriminalize marijuana, those locked up with disgraced criminal records due to selling drugs draw the short straw. With his new role, Jay Z hopes to lead the path towards change.
“Anything I do, I want to do correctly and at the highest level,” Jay-Z said in a statement on the company website.
According to Caliva’s website, Jay Z will use his new role to provide opportunities for people slighted by the big business boom of recreational weed.
“In this position, Mr. Carter will focus on and work to increase the economic participation of citizens returning from incarceration – many of who are not seeing the monetary benefits of legalization – through advocacy, job training, and overall employee and workforce development.”
The partnership comes from Jay-Z’s efforts and research. During an interview with Rolling Stone, Caliva CEO shares excitement to be have been sought after by Jay-Z.
